VMCs, used in conjunction with the popular Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) standard, help protect email users from phishing. This makes it easy to counteract fraudsters from the beginning.
To protect your emails with a VMC by DigiCert, you’ll need to do the following:
- Authenticate email with DMARC.
- For DMARC to be applied automatically, you need to specify “p = quarantine” or “p = reject”, and NOT specify “sp=none” or pct < 100.
- Publish the logo based on the specs (requires a square SVG file).
- Buy a VMC from DigiCert. This certificate will allow you to validate your logo and your organisation. Note: Your logo must be registered with the appropriate trademark organisation in your area (you can find the appropriate institution here).
